Barbara Hamby

Barbara Hamby is the author of four collections of poetry: Delirium (1993), The Alphabet of Desire (1998), Babel (2003). Her many awards include the Vassar Miller Prize, the Kate Tufts Discovery Award, the Poetry Society of America’s Norma Farber First Book Prize, the New York University Prize for Poetry and the AWP/Donald Hall Prize for Poetry. Her poems have appeared in Best American Poetry 2000, Pushcart Prizes 2001, The Paris Review, The Iowa Review, The Kenyon Review, and other journals.  Born in New Orleans and raised in Hawaii, she teaches creative writing at Florida State University.
